Terry Ingham, Jane James, Ellie van der Est, Ben Eyckmans and Jane Peterson are the holders of the ecl practice. They are the core members of the ecl team with considerable experience and skill in developing and leading research, learning and change programmes in educational, organisational and community settings.
Terry has been passionate about research, learning and development in school-based and executive education for over 30 years. He has been a teacher in secondary schools as well as head of corporate development in local government, designing and leading culture change and leadership development programmes, as well as community strategy initiatives. More recently he has helped to set up a range of trainings in systemic practices for both public and private sector organisations. A director in nowhere and co-founder of ecl, Terry leads the research and innovation work bringing strategic insight and vision to continue developing ecl as a living inquiry.
Originally a secondary school teacher, Jane James works in all sectors of education, from early years to universities. She is also a longstanding school governor. She has been developing and working with ecl's systemic approaches in schools since 2003, taking part in three major projects funded by the UK central government (DCSF). Jane is a visiting lecturer at the University of the West of England and works extensively in individual and organisational development, as a consultant and a qualified leadership and executive coach.
Ben has over 15 years experience of working as a trainer, coach, holistic psychotherapist and supervisor. A systemic specialist, he is pioneering the application of systemic approaches in Education, Healthcare and NGO work. A former teacher, Ben has held different roles as a leader and manager. He is passionate about enabling people's true growth potential, especially the well-being and development of children. Ben runs inspirational programmes with 'hard to reach' adolescents involving families, educators, psychologists and support teams.
Ellie draws on both educational and business experience. She has been a teacher and principal in primary and secondary schools, a director of a day-care centre and a policy maker at local and national government levels. As an organisational consultant, coach and trainer, Ellie specializes in innovation and systemic change in public, corporate, educational and healthcare sectors. Recent projects in Education have focused on leadership, mediation and conflict, supporting failing schools, re-designing school structures/systems and developing new approaches to whole school strategy.
M. Jane Peterson, PhD, is recognised internationally as an educator who has created a number of ground-breaking development programs in organisational and family systems. In 1999, she founded the Human Systems Institute, which offers programs in Asia, Canada, Europe, Mexico , South America and the U.S. In the past few years, Jane has also been working with the nowherefoundation developing the education initiative ecl with its emphasis on well-being and learning. With a doctorate in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University, she specialises in consulting, training and research, helping educationalists and parents develop creative strategies and applications that address complex personal, social and organisational issues.
